Winter in Morzine

Since the first ski lift opened in 1934, Morzine has grown into a vibrant ski resort while maintaining its original Haute-Savoie character. The authentic historical mountain town feel is what really sets Morzine apart from other purpose-built ski areas and means that there is plenty to discover during your stay here.

Located in the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps, Morzine is really easy to access from the UK. The nearest airport is Geneva, less than a 90 minute transfer away. Morzine is also the easiest French ski resort to drive to from the UK – approximately nine hours from Calais. It’s the ideal destination for a quick ski break or anyone that wants to spend more time on the mountain and less time travelling!

Morzine is the perfect base to explore the huge Portes du Soleil ski area. Centrally located, with the resorts of Les Gets and Avoriaz accessible from the centre of town, Winter in Morzine provides a brilliant cross section of ski terrain, great for beginners but also challenging for intermediates and experts.

After a day on the slopes, traditional après-ski centres around the bars on Morzine's rue du Bourg, boasting the infamously strong Mutzig Old Lager! In the evening the pace of life increases with events often taking place in the main square next to the Tourist Office, and a wide variety of bars and pubs staying open until the early hours in the morning.

For non-skiers, there are plenty of activities in and around Morzine to keep you entertained, including watching Morzine's very own ice hockey team, Les Pingouins (The Penguins), battle it out every Wednesday night.

We've put together an Ultimate Guide to Winter in Morzine that has all the information you need, and broken down all the key points about staying with More Mountain on our Winter Practical Information pages.
