Which Lift Pass Is Best For Morzine?

Part of the appeal of skiing or snowboarding in Morzine is being right in the heart of the huge Portes du Soleil ski area, and having access to three of those resorts from the centre of town.

Before you decide which slopes to whizz down for the day, you’ll need to choose the best lift pass for your holiday.

We get asked questions about ski passes all the time so here are our answers to all your queries about lift passes for Morzine, Les Gets and the Portes du Soleil.

What ski areas can I access with what pass?

We know, it can get a bit confusing! Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz are three separate resorts, and all part of the Portes du Soleil ski area which covers 12 resorts in total.

The slopes of Nyon and Pleney make up the Morzine ski area, and are well connected to Les Gets. Due to this, there’s also a local area pass available specifically for Morzine-Les Gets.

Morzine-Les Gets

Covering 120 km of pistes, this pass gives you access to the resorts of Morzine and Les Gets with a total of 47 ski lifts, 71 runs and 2 snow parks.

You can start exploring the area by taking the Pleney télécabine right from the centre of Morzine, or catching the free navette to the Téléphérique de Nyon which is minutes outside of town.

Avoriaz

Perched on the mountain tops above the Vallee d’ardoisiers, Avoriaz can be accessed from the Super Morzine lift or taking the free navette from town up to Prodains. With 70 km, 53 runs, and 4 snow parks, Avoriaz is also the gateway to the rest of the Portes du Soleil area.

You can get an Avoriaz specific pass for the snow parks or for a few hours, but really if you want to ski in Avoriaz you are best to go for the full Portes du Soleil pass.

Portes du Soleil

One of the biggest connected ski areas in Europe, the Portes du Soleil encompasses 2 countries, 12 resorts, 291 runs, 208 ski lifts, 30 snow parks and covers 650 km of pistes.

It doesn’t matter where you want to ski or what lift you get on - it’s all covered with this pass!

More Mountain guests can get the Morzine-Les Gets and Portes du Soleil passes at a discounted rate - just let us know when you book you holiday.

What About Beginners?

If you’re learning to ski or snowboard you can buy a day pass to access a limited number of lifts and pistes. You can find prices and buy direct on the resort websites:

These are great options for anyone learning to ski or snowboard, or non-skiers wanting to give it a go for a day.

One thing to be aware of is that you might find yourself wanting to venture beyond the nursery slopes after a couple of days so a week-long Morzine-Les Gets pass might be a better idea.

If you are having lessons your ski or snowboard school will also be able to give you advice on the best lift pass to buy.

What if I want to change my pass during my holiday?

If you want to  explore the slopes of Avoriaz or even further afield, you can upgrade the local Morzine-Les Gets pass to the full Portes du Soleil pass on a daily basis. You just need to take your lift pass to the ticket office on the day that you’d like to upgrade, and pay a small fee.

How much does it cost?

The cost of a lift pass depends on the area where you want to ski, the number of days required, and your age. Check each resort’s website for the latest prices.

Children under 5 years old can ski for free however they do need a skipass (which costs €3) in order to be able to use the lifts.

We can arrange discounted Morzine-Les Gets, and Portes du Soleil ski passes for More Mountain guests , and have your lift passes ready and waiting for you when you arrive in resort. Our discounted passes start at 3 days and go up to 15 days - perfect for any holiday!

Is there a pedestrian pass?

Yes! Non-skiers can buy a piétons aller-retour (foot passenger return) pass for select lifts. This means that they can meet you on the mountain for some lunch, have a look around and then take the lift back down.

Pedestrian lifts for Morzine and Avoriaz

Morzine and Avoriaz are really well set up for foot passengers, with non-skiers being able to access all the main areas across the resorts. The pedestrian lifts are:

  • Télécabine du Pleney
  • Télésiège du Plateau
  • Téléphérique de Nyon
  • Télécabine de Super Morzine
  • Télésiège de Zore
  • Télécabine d'Ardent (to access Linderets)
