A Brewery Tour for Beer Lovers in Morzine

If there’s one thing that pairs perfectly with the mountains - it’s beer! Whether you’re having a cheeky demi slope-side or hitting the aprés hard, beer is the ideal companion.

IBEX Beer have been brewing in the hills of Morzine for almost a decade, starting as a homebrew project in 2014.

Since then, they’ve learnt a lot about what the year-round locals and eager tourists alike want in a beer, catering for every taste - from low ABV and low-gluten beers to punchy pale ales and darker delights.

In June 2023, IBEX unveiled their brand new state-of-the-art brewery and taproom, The Wood Yard:

With plenty of room for customers inside and out, The Wood Yard is the area's newest bar and events venue.

They have ten beers on tap, including four core IBEX brews, a selection of seasonal offerings developed in-house, and a variety of guest beers from collaborating Haute-Savoie breweries.

They also have an assortment of carefully selected wine, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks for any non-beer drinkers. And all of these are the perfect accompaniment for their World Street Food inspired restaurant menu!

This winter, IBEX are opening the brewery’s doors for tours (in French and English) on Thursday evenings throughout the season.

This is a unique experience in the area, and the More Mountain Catered Chalet hosts were lucky enough to take a look around first-hand...

Dave, the owner of IBEX, took us around the site and explained the processes involved in brewing some of their most popular beers.

We were able to taste a few of the different grains that are the base of various beers and learnt how infusing them with different hops changes the flavour profiles.

The tour lasts about an hour and was as well balanced as their beer: interesting information presented with plenty of passion!

As well as supplying thirsty locals and tourists, the new brewery and taproom has allowed IBEX to dramatically increase their output (in keg and bottle). They supply not just the local bars, but also venues across the Rhone-Alpes Region, and further afield destinations such as Lyon.

We highly suggest booking an IBEX brewery tour if you are staying with More Mountain this winter. The Wood Yard is a short stroll from Morzine, along the Dereches river which starts near to Chalet La Godille, Chalet Jirishanca, and several of our self-catered apartments.

Enjoy the tour, optional tapas or dinner, and of course a few beer samples, before walking back or getting a local taxi service to drop you at your accommodation.
